I have no idea why this book is called “Cavegirl” - the protagonist is pictured throughout living in a lovely permanent house in a village!
This is right and proper as she also appears to live in the Middle Stone Age (Mesolithic) at the very earliest, with all sorts of mod cons such as grooved pottery that were not used in caves, and a wooded environment with wild boar near her house. It could easily be the New Stone Age (Neolithic) except the houses are not rectangular and there isn't really any visible farming.
Despite this (why not just call it “Stone Age Girl”?) we liked this book as it was simple enough for Kane to read aloud himself. There was a story that followed along and then had a climax and a resolution (not always to be assumed in early readers...).
