TTS school suppliers sell various stone age props, including a smart replica hafted hand-axe which is a bargain at around £10.
It is sturdily made and looks the part, although annoyingly the flint part is cast from resin so the tool doesn't actually have the properties of a flint axe whilst also remaining a solid bit of wood with a pointy end that could cause some serious damage if swung in anger (or even in the spirit of historical enquiry) - I swung it at an empty Amazon box and it made a very satisfying connection and stuck in the side, which implies it could also do the same to someone's face. And of course, swinging it around and trying to hit something with it is exactly what anyone will do as soon as they first pick it up, because it is a hafted hand axe and that is what they do.
