The Sanctuary

Another henge site near Avebury, possibly associated with the remaining stone ring. Sadly the stones from the Sanctuary were removed in the 18th century, so the places where they stood are now marked with concrete posts. The Sanctuary lies at one end of the Ridgeway path, very close to the later group of round barrows atcOverton. Those are across the A road with the Ridgeway car park, you need to make your way across the A road from there to visit the Sanctuary.
